Phil graduated from Sydney University in 1990, completed his Master of Sports Physiotherapy in 1998 and taught in this program until 2007. He held the position of Assistant Professor at Bond University for 9 years and collaborated on a number of projects with Griffith, Melbourne and Cornell Universities. Phil has worked with several sports teams including Gold Coast Titans, Australian Disabled Skiing, US Skiing and Snowboarding, Red Bull International and Surfing Australia.
He has written and overseen rehabilitation and high-performance programs for individual athletes from many sports including Wallabies, WCT surfers, World Cup skiers and NRL players. This involvement with high level athletes means that he has worked with top sports and orthopedic specialists, developing a strong network for referrals. He also has had the privilege of working for years with some of the world’s best coaches and high-performance consultants. Consequently, he has a great understanding of sports technique and performing at top level.
Phil’s continued affiliation with Universities means he continues to work with and learn from experts in a variety of fields including Physiotherapists, neuroscientists, biomedical engineers and biomechanists.
In 2018 Phil joined with an elite mobile team of specialists, Ausnep, who travel to remote areas, providing life changing health services and educating Nepalese health care providers
Phil has been the owner of Byron Bay Physiotherapy since 1996.
